Cryopreservation and the Future of Life: A Closer Look at CryoDAO's Vision

Cryopreservation is a technology that has become increasingly popular. It involves preserving the body without ice crystal formation or degradation by using extremely low temperatures and specialized cryoprotectants. The ultimate goal of this technology is to preserve the human body for a significant duration of time until medical technology has advanced enough to treat currently incurable diseases, offer rejuvenation, and ultimately, restore the patient to life.

CryoDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), has set out its goal to do exactly this - advance cutting-edge medical technology of cryopreservation and will use blockchain technology to fund this vision.

CryoDAO and bio.xyz

bio.xyz is a biotech accelerator and DeSci meta-governance layer that funds and supports future builders in decentralized science through DAOs working on a range of therapeutic areas - like CryoDAO. By joining the bio.xyz cohort, CryoDAO will have access to invaluable resources provided by bio.xyz, such as access to talent, a DAO legal defense protocol, technical IP-NFT integrations, governance and operations support, assistance with community building, dealflow process implementation, custom tokenomics, incentive programs, and fundraising support to name but a few. These resources will be instrumental in advancing CryoDAO's research projects and allow it to engage with the wider biotech community and partner with other organizations that share their vision, which is particularly vital in a field as intricate as cryopreservation.

CryoDAO will closely follow the VitaDAO model, enabling the community to vote on and pass funding proposals with the upcoming $CRYO token. In addition, CryoDAO will make use of Molecule’s IP-NFT infrastructure to essentially fund, govern, and develop intellectual property emerging from universities, laboratories and biotech companies across the globe, all in a bid towards realizing cryopreservation.

The Importance of Cryopreservation Technology

The work that CryoDAO is doing has the potential to change the way we think about life and death. Essentially, not only could cryopreservation provide a way to preserve bodies and organs for an indefinite amount of time, but it could also lead to incredible medical breakthroughs in the future. Currently, there are a number of diseases and conditions that are considered incurable, and CryoDAO's work, “pausing” biology, could eventually eliminate all causes of death. It does this by directly targeting the problem of death, placing people in a form of stasis. Cryopreservation technology therefore has the potential to allow for the preservation of life after death.

CryoDAO’s Research Projects

Recent breakthroughs in cryopreservation have proven that we can cryopreserve, rewarm, and transplant entire animal organs. Scientists have proven the survival of long-term memory after cryopreservation in model organisms, have been able to uniformly cryopreserve entire brains retaining brain structure, and much more. CryoDAO aims to advance this research further with their initial two projects including an innovative technique of rewarming organs using ultrasound transfusers, as well as a new cocktail medication administered prior to cryopreservation.
