BIO Monthly Update: August, 2024
BIO Genesis nears $5M
One week in and over 5 million dollars in total value swapped (at the time of writing).
BIO Genesis, BIO’s token generation event, is live, and Liquid Science is flowing onchain.
During this first of four Genesis rounds, the only way to get BIO is by swapping eligible tokens from our ecosystem of bioDAOs. The goal? Create Incentive alignment between BIO holders and DeSci DAOs in the ecosystem while creating a diversified treasury for the BIO network.
While the initial auction cap was set at $5M, it’s since been raised due to the auction’s mechanics. The auction limit is based on the amount of tokens contributed, not merely on their value.
Therefore, since multiple DeSci tokens have risen exponentially in value since Genesis started, the total auction limit has increased.
Once the current cap in total contributed value is reached, BIO will stop accepting new bids. Participants in Genesis can claim their BIO tokens after the round, with 50% immediately claimable and 50% vesting linearly over the next year.

BIO’s second cohort of bioDAOs is open for early applicants
Want to help shape the future of DeSci? Apply to start a bioDAO. Applications for the second cohort of bioDAOs to join the BIO Network went live last week. This cohort plans to launch in Q4 of 2024, and in it, BIO is planning to focus on a number of under-explored areas of science we’d like to fund (or rather, megafund).

- Rare Diseases
- Gene Therapy

HairDAO is launching a telehealth platform

ValleyDAO wants more biomining projects
In its ongoing efforts to fund world-saving synthetic biology research, ValleyDAO has made an open call to fund biomining research projects up to $200K. VitaDAO shares a DeSci data drop
VitaRNA by Artan BIO, an IPT (that’s a token that represents fractionalized governance over an IP-NFT, a tokenized asset of scientific IP), is one of DeSci's greatest initial use cases.
Built to fund longevity-focused R&D for suppressing age-related diseases and cancers, VitaRNA represents a key early partnership between DeSci (VitaDAO) and traditional biotech (Artan) that demonstrated the technical capabilities of onchain science and how it accelerates medical funding.
Almost exactly one year after the collaborative project was born onchain, VitaDAO has shared a DeSci data drop on the IPT’s current funding and research progress. Check it out here.
CerebrumDAO & VitaDAO link up with Molecule to fund Alzheimer’s treatment
The DeSci dream team of CerebrumDAO, VitaDAO, and Molecule has collaborated on a new proposal and project called Project TransFidelity, which will help combat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's by improving the accuracy of protein synthesis.
In August, VitaDAO and CerebrumDAO’s proposals both locked in plans to allocate $50K to TransFidelity’s efforts. This is an onchain bioDAO collaboration we love to see. Check out more here.
